Just a quick catch up newsletter before we head into half term….
Change is in the wind! After 10 years of service to Fleming, ‘Teacher Wendy,’ Sunbeams teacher, will be retiring at the end of term. I am sure you will all join me in wishing her all the best on the next step of life’s journey.
We are excited to welcome Danielle Tyrrell as the teacher in the Sunbeams Group. Danielle has a BA degree from Wits University, as well as a qualification in Foundation Phase and Early Childhood Development. She also has remedial experience. Danielle is a mum to 3 children of her own. Although we will miss Wendy, I am confident that we will have a fabulous teacher for our little ones in 2020.
After working at the school for 21 years, our very much- loved Chef/cleaner, Gogo Maria is also retiring. Maria is leaving us to go home and look after her husband who hasn’t been well for a while. There are many children whom parents have told me are on a self- imposed starvation diet that eat Gogo’s food! We are really going to miss Maria! Fleming won’t be that same without her!
Should you wish to contribute towards a collection to show your appreciation of Maria and all that she has done for your children and Fleming over the years please hand in to Loretta.
We have had an action packed 6 weeks! We have had a visit from the mobile incubator and the excitement of watching baby chicks hatch. We have had Spring Day and Special Persons Day, which was, as usual, a very special morning with a very festive air about it. We celebrated Heritage Day and Teachers Day and we have had a wild animal show. We have, of course had our concert, for which I must say THANKS once again to Tanya, Fiona, and my teachers, who worked enthusiastically and tirelessly to make it not only fun but a success too! Here’s to next year!
We have had our Orientation Day for 2020 where we welcomed the ELC children to the Pre-Primary as well as new children from other schools. The children have now met their new teachers and seen their new classrooms and are ready for their exciting next adventure! Teacher Amanda tells me that some of the children couldn’t understand why they had to go back to the ELC the next day!
to the Moms who provided eats for Spring Day. They were thoroughly enjoyed by our Grandparents and Special People. Thanks too, to all who provided and planted plants. They are growing beautifully, and the children are loving watching their progress.
We are looking for a mom or dad to draw/paint some handprints on the wall in both the top and bottom schools If you can help, please let Loretta know.
This is happening on Friday 1 November. Please see separate email and communication outside your classrooms for more information.
Thanks to almost everyone who is sticking to the lunch box rules – it is making a big difference!MY SCHOOL CARD
